June 18 first Superman movie extras casting call

Henry Cavill stars as young Superman in “Man of Steel”

An extras casting call, starting Saturday, June 18, is out loud and clear for Warner Bros. new Superman movie, Man of Steel, that starts shooting in the western suburbs and Chicago Aug. 22 for a reported 10 weeks.

Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead) is the director and playing Clark Kent/Superman is English heartthrob Henry Cavill (The Tudors).  Kevin Costner and Diane Lane play young Clark’s parents.

The casting contingent –- hired in L.A. and brought out here by Warner’s — is seeking men, women, children of all ages, especially military and athletic types, says one of the casting people.

“Just bring a smiley face,” is the only qualification for appearing at the call, “as we will be taking pictures and information of everyone who shows up,” says one of the casting persons.

They are unsure of the number of extras who will ultimately be signed for the paid day work, but the expectation is very high.
