Ticket to Paradise, the Julia Roberts and George Clooney rom/com is in town today and tomorrow, filming plate shots on Irving Park Road.

Plate shots are background images, without the actors, filmed by a second unit team.

Ticket to Paradise primarily filmed in Australia and is currently in post production. The film is said to be a “hilarious comedy” in which Roberts and Clooney reunite on the screen after 20 years, playing hostile exes. The divorced couple teams up and travels to Bali to stop their daughter (Kaitlyn Dever) from making the same mistake they think they made 25 years ago.

It is said to be worth the wait to see Roberts and Clooney, who are longtime friends and co-stars, back together on screen. Variety reported that audiences were entertained by a recent sneak peek screening at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

In one scene, Robert and Clooney’s characters refused to sit next to each other on the plane and hurled insults until a flight attendant lets them switch.

“Worst 19 years of my life,” Clooney says, to which Roberts replies, “We were only married for five.”

“I’m including the recovery,” he fires back.

In a recent interview Stephen Colbert asked Julia, “Is George a fun guy to bubble with, as Australia has tight Covid protocol?” She said, “He is everything that you think he is, he is more than that.”

Ol Parker directed the film and co-wrote the script with Daniel Pipski. The film is set to be released by Universal Pictures on October 21, 2022.

Ticket To Paradise is the couples’ fifth film together. They have worked together on Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Money Monster (2016).

We were confused to see Ticket to Paradise in town when Chicago is not listed as a location for the film. I guess we’ll have to see the movie to figure out why they needed Irving Park Road in the film.
