Jesse Lee Soffer’s FBI: International canceled as CBS reshuffles FBI franchise

Jess Lee Soffer FBI: International

CBS is making major changes to its FBI franchise, and unfortunately for fans of Jesse Lee Soffer, FBI: International will not be returning for a fifth season. Alongside FBI: Most Wanted, the two spin-offs will end their runs after their current seasons.

Soffer, who joined FBI: International as Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, brought a dynamic and commanding presence to the global crime-fighting series. His addition was met with excitement from longtime fans, particularly those who followed his career from Chicago P.D., where he played Detective Jay Halstead for nearly a decade.

Why Is FBI: International Ending?

According to reports, CBS and Universal Television were too far apart on financial negotiations to keep both Dick Wolf-produced spin-offs on the air. While no official word has been given on whether International could be shopped to another network or streaming service, fans are hoping this isn’t the last they’ll see of Wes Mitchell and the Fly Team.

Meanwhile, the FBI universe isn’t disappearing entirely—CBS is already developing a new spin-off, tentatively titled FBI: CIA, which is expected to be introduced via a backdoor pilot in an upcoming episode of the flagship FBI series.

Soffer’s TV Legacy Continues

Jesse Lee Soffer’s transition from Chicago P.D. to FBI: International was a major draw for fans, with his strong character work and action-ready presence making him a natural fit for the high-stakes world of international law enforcement. While International is ending, Soffer’s dedicated fanbase and impressive career trajectory suggest he won’t be away from TV screens for long.

As the FBI franchise shifts gears, one thing is certain: Jesse Lee Soffer remains one of the most compelling and versatile actors in crime procedural television—and audiences will be eagerly awaiting his next move.
