Could Jesse Lee Soffer, known for his role as Detective Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D., pull double duty within the sprawling Dick Wolf Universe? The actor recently addressed fans’ burning questions about his potential return to Chicago P.D., even as he takes on his prominent new role in FBI: International.

In recent interview with TV Line, Soffer responded to speculation about whether Halstead could make a cameo, perhaps for a major event like the Burzek wedding. “You know, that’s a really smart question,” Soffer responded. “I didn’t ask, but I imagine that [my FBI: International role] doesn’t preclude that. I would hope that it doesn’t, because, obviously, Wolf is such a huge production company with so many shows, and I feel very fortunate to get to play two main characters on two of those shows. So never say never!”

Halstead’s return would undoubtedly drum up attention for an episode, offering an exciting opportunity for fans to reconnect with the character. Moreover, it would provide Halstead a chance to interact with colleagues he didn’t properly say goodbye to when he abruptly left in Season 10. Such a reunion could be an emotional and impactful moment for the show, tying up loose ends.

With Dick Wolf overseeing a massive slate of interconnected shows across different networks, the possibility of characters crossing over remains a hallmark of his universe. We’re all hoping to see Jay Halstead back in action on the streets of Chicago.
