“JBTV” aims to be the new MTV network

Jerry Bryant’s “JBTV” music show will give the home of the world’s largest music festival something to remember when Bryant brings 28 of the best Chicago rock, punk and hip hop artist to Austin this weekend.

The JBTV artists will perform March 18-20 at the Trophy Room, a popular downtown Austin music bar, during the SXSW music and film festival.

“Jerry loves to bring new artists to life, artists from around the world that no one has heard of,” says recently arrived general manager Christian Picciolini, owner of Gold Mill Artist Management and lifelong music devotee.

His addition means that producer/host Bryant won’t be flying solo anymore.

“When I came to work on January 1, there were four of us; now we have more than 20 young, talented volunteers working with us,” Picciolini says.

This is part of Bryant and Picciolini’s strategy to ultimately take “JBTV” and to the level of a 24-hour online network.

“I want us to be the new MTV, exposing and making new talent,” says Bryant.

“There is a huge gap in the market as outlets like MTV and VH1 have gone from music programming to reality shows,” adds Picciolini. “We are poised to be one of the shows to fill that gap and our plan is to reach as many people as we can.”

The plan takes form this week with the debut of the first of three new, hourlong “JBTV” music shows.
