Jamie Ceaser produces weekly movie review show in L.A. for former Ch. 11 colleague John Davies

Veteran TV show producer Jamie Ceaser is working in L.A. for the next two months producing “Movie Club with John Ridley” that airs Fridays on AMC. She was brought aboard by executive producer John Davies, her old friend from Ch. 11 days.

“Sneak Previews” meets “The McLaughlin Group” is the way Ceaser described the eight-week series.

John Ridley, a writer/producer who’s currently writing the “Barber Shop” TV series for Showtime, matches wits and review opinions with guest panelists: Nathan Rabin, entertainment writer for The Onion, Josh Kuhn, columnist for the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Anderson Jones, movie reviewer for CNN Headline News and Zorianna Kit, entertainment reporter for KTLA.

Ceaser said the panel will revolve as the show evolves.

This is the second season, so to speak, of “Movie Club” for the Davies-Ceaser team. Earlier this year they produced seven weeks of shows and plan to shoot another set of eight later this year.

Davies worked on the original Ch. 11 Siskel-Ebert show (produced by Thea Flaum back then) and Ceaser produced the successor movie show with Michael Medved and Jeffrey Lyon.

Davies, who moved to L.A. several years ago, created “Wild Chicago” and “Top Guns” for Ch. 11. Recently in L.A. he produced “Second City Presents…” for Bravo, “The Rerun Show” for NBC and “Comedy Relief” for HBO.

Ceaser said she’s produced “everything from documentaries on Bill Veeck, Ed Paschke and the Staple Singers to ?Image Union’ and ?CenterStage.’ She still works freelance for Ch. 11. Most recently she produced the station’s 50th anniversary show airing in August, and its earlier “Make History Awards” show for the Chicago Historical Society.
