James Woods and Peter Riegert will star in “Winter of Frozen Dreams,” the feature debut of commercial director Mike Graf.
“Winter of Frozen Dreams” is the story of Barbara Hoffman, the real-life former University of Wisconsin biochemistry student and massage parlor prostitute now serving a life sentence for two late-70’s cyanide murders.
It will film on 35mm for 30 days in Madison in February.
Graf runs Madison commercial production company Spot Film Works and sister outfit King Isthmus Films, working regularly for Chicago and Milwaukee agencies and shooting in both cities.
Co-writer John Besmer, who adapted the script with Graf and Michael Caughill from a 1990 nonfiction book by Karl Harter, said that several major actresses, including Amy Adams (“Junebug”) were under consideration for the role of Hoffman. Katie Holmes had previously been mentioned for the role.
