If your usual Wednesday night plans include the high-stakes drama of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., you might have been disappointed last night. NBC’s beloved One Chicago lineup took a brief hiatus, but don’t worry—it was all for a good reason.
Instead of diving into the latest cliffhangers from Gaffney Medical, Firehouse 51, or the Intelligence Unit, NBC celebrated the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary with Opry 100: A Live Celebration. The three-hour special, hosted by Blake Shelton, took over the network’s primetime slot from 8–11 p.m. ET, preempting all three One Chicago shows.
What You’re Missing Tonight on One Chicago
While the country music world took center stage, One Chicago fans will have to wait another week to see how the latest storylines unfold:
On Chicago Med, Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) is still fighting to keep his job, but will Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) let him go? Meanwhile, Frost (Ellen Tamaki) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) treat a patient struggling with his sexuality, and Dr. Abrams (Brennan Brown) works to save a woman who’s been in a coma for 20 years.
On Chicago Fire, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) faces the devastating aftermath of his wife’s death, while Violet (Hanako Greensmith) struggles to write a letter to Carver (Jake Lockett). Meanwhile, Damon (Michael Bradway) makes his return, hoping for a permanent spot at Firehouse 51.
On Chicago P.D., Burgess (Marina Squerciati) finds her memory recall put to the test after a deadly incident at her local diner. And Voight (Jason Beghe) is just getting started on his campaign to take down a dangerous new adversary (Shawn Hatosy).
Last Night
Opry 100: A Live Celebration. The event featured nearly 50 Grand Ole Opry members, including Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, and more. Even crossover artists like Post Malone and Eric Church will take the stage, making for a truly special night of music.
The broadcast was split between Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House and the historic Ryman Auditorium, celebrating a century of country music history. If you’re a fan of country’s biggest names, you can also catch the event streaming live on Peacock.
When Does One Chicago Return?
The wait won’t be long! The One Chicago lineup returns next Wednesday, March 26, with brand-new episodes. Fans can expect plenty of drama, action, and emotional moments as the storylines pick up right where they left off.
So, while last night might be a break from Chicago’s most intense emergencies, next week promises a full slate of can’t-miss episodes. Mark your calendars—your favorite first responders and detectives will be back before you know it!
