Manny Montana, the Good Girls’ bad boy we can’t help but love has joined the cast of the Disney+ series Ironheart in an undisclosed role opposite teen hero Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne.)

Montana is best known for playing Rio in the NBC drama series Good Girls and recently appeared in the FX drama series Mayans MC, a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy

Actor Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) will also appear in what is expected to be a big role in this series, and in future Marvel projects as well.

The series, originally announced as part of a Disney investor day presentation in December 2020, is based on the comic series created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato. Chinaka Hodge will serve as head writer on the series.

It is expected that the series will stick pretty closely to the original story. Riri Williams described as a brilliant teenager who, in the comics, built her own version of the Iron Man suit in an MIT dorm. There’s also been some speculation that the character could be retconned as a Wakandan since she’ll also appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The series is expected to begin production this June in Atlanta. At this time we are unable to confirm how much of the filming will be done in Chicago this summer, but the central character Riri Williams resides in Chicago.
