NATHYN MASTERS’ guerilla style apocalyptic thriller “4th Beast: Mask of the Antichrist” has been picked up for DVD release by York Entertainment of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Masters’ Timecode Mechanics produced the DV feature last winter.

Masters is in development on his followup, the martial arts pic “Silvergun Samurai,” for production next year. He’s writing a prequel to “4th Beast” called “Mark of the Antichrist,” and is co-producing the dance romance “Open Your Heart” from Tennessee’s Xenophobia Films, shooting here this winter. CATHERINE CROUCH’S gender-bending horror feature “Metamora,” starring Guinevere Turner (“Go Fish”), originally scheduled to shoot in Indiana and Northern Illinois this month, has been postponed. Three-week production is now set to begin April 15. See www.catherinecrouch.com.

MARK HARRIS’ “Why Men Cheat,” the screenwriter’s directorial debut, is due for February release from Day for Night, the Virginia company owned by producer Martin Jones (“Nothin’ 2 Lose”).

D.P. CARLSON of Film Foetus is in post on the hour concert doc “JOE FRANK: Live at Third Coast Festival,” covering the public radio legend’s performance Oct. 29 at the Art Institute. Carlson is looking for an editor and plans to complete post by next spring. FINELY MADE FILMS & ENTERTAINMENT, the Waukegan production company whose short “Gotham, IL” premiered at the 1st Annual Chicago Filipino Film Festival last October, is holding auditions for two upcoming features.

JONATHAN SKOGMO and the Brakes for Brett Foundation are in post on his doc “Flying Over Cuba,” about his 18-year-old cousin Brett Karlin’s death in a car crash in Long Grove, its impact on the community, and the broader issue of reckless driving.
