IFP event to tell how to obtain ITVS program funds

IFP Chicago’s “Meet the Funder: Independent Television Service (ITVS)” program June 23 will introduce filmmakers to program funding opportunities with San Francisco-based ITVS, a major funder for public television programs, at business incubator 2112.

The ITVS speaker is producer N’Jeri Eaton, ITVS Content Development & Initiative Manager, who manages ITVA funding initiatives, such as Digital Open Call and Diversity Funds.

Eaton, called “an immense resource and guide for documentary filmmakers,” by IFP executive director Nicole Bernardi-Reis, will provide an overview of how ITVS can be both a funder and a co-production partner for broadcast programs.

Eaton, who is also a freelance producer and editor, also will share details about several currently available funding initiations, including the weekly PBS “Independent Lens” series and how ITVS-funded films fit into the public television system.

“One of the challenges of Midwestern filmmakers is that they rarely get to meet the decision-makers from major organizations who are centered on the coasts. But a critical part of creating a sustainable career is having a working relationship with these people,” says Bernardi-Reis.

At at 2112, 4245 N. Knox, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to IFP members and film students (with valid ID); $10 general admission. Purchase tickets here.
