IATSE to join #RedAlertRESTART movement tonight

Chicago’s Allstate Arena will be lit up bright red tonight at 9PM in solidarity with 1500 live event venues around America for the #RedAlertRESTART movement.

#WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART and #ExtendPUA represent a major call to action, imploring the US Congress to pass the RESTART Act (S.3814) as quickly as possible, offering economic relief to the Live Events Industry, which has been shuttered since March 2020, putting millions of people out of work.

IATSE members in the industry, who were among the first to lose their jobs and will be the last to return to work, have been asked to pack the parking lot (in masks, while social distancing) to help bring awareness to an industry that has been completely shut down by COVID-19.

Since February, thousands of events have been cancelled, 77% of IATSE workers lost 100% of their income, and 96% of the associated companies have cut staff.

With luck, this will get the Senate’s attention and help push the RESTART act through, so entertainment workers (including those who work in film) get the help they need to get through this challenging time.
