Hummel Charitable Golf Outing tees off Aug. 8

What started out as a generous, from-the-heart gesture in 1995, to help the family of an editor who died suddenly, has become one of the summer’s most anticipated events.

The 15th annual Hummel Charity Golf Outing, Monday, Aug. 9, will be enjoyed by members of Chicago’s combined postproduction community, who will tee off to raise money for the non-profit Chicago Post Production Benefit Fund.

“This is a great social event,” notes Pete DeBenny, VTP regional sales manager and one of the five-person committee that hosts and administers the non-profit event.

“The Hummel brings together people from the post side of broadcasting, advertising, corporate, entertainment, plus music, audio and duplication. Where can you meet people like this in one place?” he asks.

Furthermore, adds Optimus’ Tom Duff, “The Hummel is the oldest, continuing, annual industry event and a one-of-a-kind cause, where we go behind-the-scenes to help people we know and work with when they fall on hard times.”

DeBenny, Duff, Bob Daly of The Tape Company, Pete Janotta of Filmworkers Club, and Radi Akel of Harpo have comprised the Hummel committee since the beginning.
