Honest Kids is heading back to school with a campaign built around one thing children rarely have trouble delivering: the unfiltered truth. The organic juice drink brand is launching a new back-to-school effort that celebrates the brutally honest — and often hilarious — things kids say about their parents.
The campaign comes to life Sunday, August 9, with a limited-time activation at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. From 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., local kids will be invited to share their most honest takes about their parents, with the resulting comments captured as campaign content.
Parents get their turn, too.
Honest Kids’ limited-edition back-to-school packaging features a blank space designed for personalized lunchbox notes, allowing moms and dads to leave messages for their kids and creating a two-way exchange between parent and child that ranges from heartfelt to funny.
The brand has already begun teasing the activation across its social channels. The idea plays directly into Honest Kids’ positioning around authenticity. In a category often treated as either an indulgence or compromise, the brand touts USDA organic certification and no added sugar while using the campaign to acknowledge that today’s parents aren’t necessarily chasing perfection — they’re looking for something real.
The campaign was developed by Havas Chicago, with Annex Chicago handling content creation and production.
Content from the Lincoln Park Zoo event will roll out across Honest Kids’ Instagram account and include interviews with parents and children, product tastings and the lunchbox-note experience. Sharpie will also participate in the campaign, along with influencer attendees and paid social amplification.
The work marks the first brand activation from Havas Chicago for Honest Kids since the agency and brand began working together in November 2025. The campaign will continue throughout the back-to-school season and wrap in mid-September.

“Parents don’t need more ‘perfect parent’ propaganda pushed at them. They need to laugh, feel seen, and know they’re not alone,” said Ashley Rosenow, EVP, Head of Client Services at Havas Chicago. “Honest Kids has always stood for something real. This campaign leans all the way into that. Kids are the most honest critics in the world, and their parents wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“We wanted to create something that felt true to who Honest Kids is and the community around the brand,” added Claire Dean, Senior Director, Creative Strategy & Integrated Campaigns (Nutrition), Honest Kids. “The back-to-school season is hectic and messy and beautiful, and this campaign captures all of that in a fun way that we think will really resonate with parents.”
