Hollywood, Michigan? That’s what proposed Center City Studios of Lansing is shooting for

After only six months from the enactment of Michigan’s film incentives, the state’s second biggest film complex is being planned for downtown Lansing.

The $9 million studio is being developed by a partnership between the Gillespie Group, an East Lansing real estate development company, and Ahptic Film & Digital, a full-service production/post company.

The 71,000-sq. ft. facility would be second in size to Grace & Wild’s Studio Center headquarters in Farmington and its three other Southfield locations, which encompass over 100,000 sq. ft. Their sound stages and accompanying support areas total 40,000 sq. ft.

“This project is one of the most tangible results of the recent film legislation,” noted Ken Droz, the Michigan Film Office’s creative/communications manager.

“It creates the perfect confluence for film production, such as capital investment, infrastructure, and the development of a talented, indigenous workforce.”
