Hay Moon Pictures’ thriller “Witches’ Night” bows

Writer/producer Paul Traynor’s “Witches Night,” in HD, is a throwback to the ?70s horror classics, premieres July 18 at the Wilmette theatre, coinciding with its DVD release by Rivercoast Film Distribution.

Shot virtually all outdoors in Wisconsin in the fall of 2006, it was produced by Hay Moon Pictures’ partners Sean Bradley, Michael Lent and Traynor.

The story is about Jim (Gil McKinney, “The Grudge 3”) who was humiliated after being ditched at the altar. His friends whisk him away to the middle of nowhere where they meet four hot women. But their excitement turns to dread when they realize the women have deadly plans for them.

Cast includes Gil McKinney (“ER,” “The Grudge 3”), Bill Christian (“Batman Begins” the artistic director of the Shakespere Project), Wesley Walker (“Prison Break,” season one), Jeff Alba (“The Breakup”) and Betsy Baker (upcoming “Cat’s Meow”).

Hay Moon’s principals have an impressive collection of creative talents among them, honed through acting and screenwriting.

Paul Traynor is a corporate writer/director who has also acted and appeared in national commercials. Sean Bradley, an actor, has been a casting director for O’Connor Casting, runs an on-camera acting school and appears in movies and TV shows.

Producer Michael Lent is an award-winning screenwriter, author of “Breakfast with Sharks,” a best-selling book on screenwriting in Hollywood, and several other books. He has sold, optioned or been assigned to 11 features.

Coproducer/UPM Michael Lent has directed non-fiction TV shows for A&E and the History Channel and is currently acquiring, developing, and producing projects for Questar, a local film and video distribution company.

They produced “Witches’ Night” under SAG’s Ultra Low Feature contract and shot by Steven Parker with a Panasonic HVX200. Gordy Haab composed the score.

Quantum Releasing will handle foreign distribution.

“Witches’ Night” plays July 18 at 7:30 p.m. and 19 at 9:40 p.m., followed by a panel discussion featuring the filmmakers and cast members.
