“Hapless” arrives on the web
Hapless, a six-episode web series shot and set in Chicago, is available for streaming on Amazon and Vimeo.
Created and directed by Agron Karameti, the show revolves around seven siblings who deal, in various ways, with their mother’s death, which occurred at the hands of their father.
Despite the weighty premise, Hapless falls squarely into the comedy-drama genre (“comdram,” anyone?). The characters follow multiple storylines that remain light-hearted and believable while coming off as distinct and genuine individuals.
Combined with locations and situations familiar to any typical American — especially the ones who have lived in Chicago — Hapless shows a lot of promise.

“Just A Friend” advances to semi-final round of the L.A. Indie Film Awards
Chicago-based actor / filmmaker Annette Galloway’s romantic comedy, Just A Friend, is a compelling testament to one of the world’s oldest questions: can men and women be just friends?
In her 2017 feature, two of the main characters attempt to solve the age-old mystery by doing just that.
Since its Valentine’s Day premiere at Chicago’s Landmark Century Centre Cinema, viewers and organizations have been praising the movie’s humor and heart. Among them is the Los Angeles International Film Festival Awards (LAIFFA), which named Just a Friend as a 2018 finalist in March.
The LAIFFA will notify winners on May 1. Its annual festival takes place at Raleigh Studios Hollywood on August 25, 2018
