“If I don’t
do it now,
when will I?”
– Graham Metzger

Accomplished creative editor Graham Metzger has ventured out on his own and opened a new editorial/motion graphics/design post house, filmbutcher.

Metzger, who is also a motion graphics designer and director, leaves Hootenanny, which has been his home for 11 years. While there, he collaborated on projects for McDonald’s, UnitedHealthcare, Network Health, Kraft, AARP, Can-Am, Chevron, Bi-Lo, Winn Dixie and Toys”R”US among other clients.

“It was something I always wanted to do,” Metzger told Reel Chicago. “Looking at a bunch of factors, it was time to do it. I thought to myself, ‘If I don’t do it now, when will I?”

At just 5 days old, Filmbutcher – Metzger is actually German for “butcher” – has positioned itself to be nimble and flexible, which is a requirement these days with tighter budgets and schedules.

“We’re set up to be where you need us. You can come to us, we can come to you… or let’s meet someplace else! Why shouldn’t you go play 18, hit the slopes or lounge on the beach in between reviews of your edit or design project?”

According to Metzger, one of the joys of posting your digital shingle and being your own boss is being able to create your own schedule. The first cutting assignment for him – the grass.
