Go to Team, a provider of high-end video crews and equipment video crews and equipment headquartered in Charleston, S.C., opens its first northern city branch in Chicago with the arrival Aug. 1 of DP Ryan Ricker. He is transitioning to his new home base from Los Angeles.
“Chicago is a great market for us,” says Shawn Moffat, Go to Team’s Charleston-based operations manager/partner. “Our desire is not only to shoot and live in the city, as Ryan will be doing, but also to be part of the Chicago community.”
Ricker is a cameraman, photojournalist and editor, who shoots HD with Panasonic Varicam, HDX900, HVX200P2, miniDV,Sony F900, Z1u and V1u, and Canon 7D. He is a 2008 Penn State graduate with a BA in communications.
“We are not a crewing company,” Moffat points out. “What we provide is a two man ENG crew – a staff cameraman and a locally hired audio engineer, usually for interviews, B roll, behind the scenes or feature pieces. We will hire additional crews and production personnel if the client requests it. We can be as lean or as robust with crews as the assignment calls for.”
Having Ricker in the city places the company closer to its dozen local and Midwest area clients, that include Intersport Fox Sports & Entertainment, Teamworks, AKA Media and other national organizations. Their Chicago clients also book Go to Team’s crews for work in other cities.
The 15-year old company, founded by Patrick Bryant and Dwaine Scott, has branches in L.A. and throughout the South in Atlanta, Charleston, Raleigh, Charlotte, Nashville, Richmond and Orlando. On staff cameramen/DPs crews work with several sets of identical gear and offer the same quality in multiple markets.
