?A freak accident’ ends ?Transformers 3′ filming

“Transformers 3” has wrapped in Chicago and canceled its scheduled its final Millennium Park shoot, following what a Paramount executive has called “a freak accident.”

Gabriella Cedillo, 24, an extra and not part of the stunt team, was driving her own 2006 Toyota in scenes being shot on location in Hammond when she suffered a serious head injury earlier this week.

According to the Paramount executive who talked to Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke, “a freak accident” caused Cedillo’s head injury.” He said Cedillo had been struck by a flying metal object whose welding had come apart and not by a steel towing cable.

Neither Cedillo nor her car was involved in the stunt, as she and the car were more than 500-ft. from the stunt.

The stunt had to be repeated a second day because of a “timing issue” and not because it had failed. as reported by the media, the executive explained. “Nobody has done movies more safely than Michael Bay,” he added.

“We feel horrible that anyone was injured and will take all appropriate action,” he said.
