FOUNDATION’S BEN CHAPPELL AND AARON BROWN co-directed a music video for the band GIRLS — actually the two-man band of Christopher Owens and R. J. White — that preceded release this week of GIRLS’ new album, simply titled “Album.”
The 2:30-minute video features 18 friends of the band singing “Lust for Love,” the song that White wrote.
The co-directors used a single 3-minute roll of Super 8 for each take of singles and couples singing indoors and out with San Francisco as the backdrop.
Matt Egan edited the video from 18 rolls of Super 8 and seven B rolls.
“Lust for Life” plays on GIRLS’ website and Pitchfork.com. “We delivered a digibata master to MTV and it’s getting airplay in England,” Chappell says, adding that he’s directed 10 music videos this year so far.
