Foundation Content has opened an office in Santa Monica in “as a way of expanding our reach into the L.A. market and to facilitate shoots there for our Chicago clients,” says Samantha Hart, co-president with editor James Lipetzky in the five-year old hybrid boutique.
Stacy Paris, who heads the office, will produce for Foundation’s Chicago clients and also focus on music videos and viral, said Hart.
Paris’ first project as producer was a commercial for USG building materials shot in L.A. Feb. 12-13. Foundation’s Steven Piet directed and will edit. Erik Crary, who spent seven years in L.A. where he had been director David Lynch’s assistant, was line producer.
Hart said, “We were motivated for some time about having an auxiliary office in L.A., since I am from there and have deep roots in the film and record business,” where she had had a successful career in marketing and development for some of Movieland’s biggest companies
Having the L.A. office will enable Hart to “reconnect and reestablish relationships to people I’ve known over the years,” she said.
One of those people was Paris who had worked for Hart in L.A. before Hart moved to Chicago . Most recently Paris was marketing director at independent record label Immergent, and earlier worked for Trio Films, both L.A.
In early 2006, Foundation Content took shape “as a unique, multi-faceted creative entity that was not based on just one discipline,” said Hart, the company’s creative director, who saw an opportunity with diversification.
Steven Piet is set to direct with Erik Crary as line producer.
Foundation’s Santa Monica office is located at 1669 19th St.
