Forge Virtual Studios is set to launch a full-scale virtual production facility just outside Chicago. Built from the ground up for commercial filmmakers, branded storytellers, and creative teams, Forge aims to bring high-end virtual production tools, including LED volumes and real-time workflows, to the broader Chicago production community.
The studio features two purpose-built stages designed to support everything from agency campaigns and branded content to original films and corporate videos. Studio A boasts an impressive 82’ x 16’ LED wall tailored for cinematic work, while Studio B offers a more agile 25’ x 13’ setup, ideal for fast-turnaround branded and corporate shoots. But Forge isn’t just about gear, it’s about access.
“Forge is more than a studio,” says Drew English, CEO. “It’s a partner in the creative process. We help teams execute their ideas with clarity, control, and impact.”
Founded by Drew English and President Connor Rowan, the studio was born out of a shared frustration with the limitations of traditional production. Unpredictable weather, remote locations, spiraling costs, all of it can now be replaced with a virtual environment that gives directors and crews total control.
“Our goal is simple,” notes Rowan. “To make high-end virtual production more accessible and more collaborative, right here in our community.”
That community focus is key. Located in Hanover Park, Forge is intentionally positioned to serve the western suburbs and surrounding regions, offering an alternative to big-city studios without sacrificing capability or quality.
From ad agencies looking to shrink timelines, to indie filmmakers chasing bold visions, Forge wants to be more than a soundstage. It wants to be the place where the future of storytelling takes shape, in real time.
Forge Virtual Studios is set to officially open in Fall 2025.
