Fletcher set for national growth with hire of new GM/camera rental division

After nearly a two-year hiatus from the film industry, Zoe Pintzopoulos Borys is back in business as general manager of Fletcher Chicago’s camera rental division.

She will work closely with rental manager Stan Glapa in overseeing a staff of ten, “and doing a balancing act between management and relationship building in other markets,” she said.

Zoe’s appointment follows Fletcher’s investment of $2.5 million-plus in new film camera equipment. It includes ARRI’s latest Super 16mm camera (416), Zeiss master primes and diopters and a full 18-lens set of Cooke’s “intelligent primes” S4/i.

Zoe said she will also focus on strategic alliances with manufacturers and industry peers “to further guarantee the quality and availability of Fletcher’s equipment and service.”

Said rental manager Stan Glapa, who had worked with Zoe for a year at Panavision, “With all our new assets, Zoe will help drive us to the front lines of national business.”

Zoe’s background focused on film capture

Chicago is a familiar market to the Ontario, Canada native who has camera personnel relationships and contacts throughout the country.

Zoe first worked in Chicago as a marketing executive for Panavision during its short run in Chicago from 1998?after it had purchased the long established Victor Duncan camera company?until it abruptly closed two years later.

The company transferred her to its Toronto branch, and four years later she transferred again to Panavision’s Orlando branch.

Florida was familiar territory to Zoe, whose first job out of college had been director of studio operations for Chapman Leonard’s sound stage, which at the time competed with Disney and Universal in the market.

Earlier she had been based in Minneapolis as the 10-state rep for Kodak negative sales.

Marriage and a family brought Zoe back to Chicago. Her husband, Gerard, a native Chicagoan, and head of the laser department of family-owned Metal Creations. The Borys have an 18-month old son, Evan Henry.

The Fletchers are clearly delighted with Zoe’s addition to their 26-person staff. “Her direct experience with assistant cameramen and DPs will highly benefit our clientele,” said company president Archie Fletcher.

“She has a level of professionalism and expertise that makes her a perfect leader for our group.”
