Out of AICP’s annual 2014 AICP Show and AICP Next Awards Shortlist of 212 nominees for excellence and expertise in commercials, only five Chicago agencies in eight categories are up for awards.
The winners will be revealed during AICP Week in New York, June 10-12. The AICP Show: The Art & Technique of the American Commercial’s winners reel will premiere June 12 at Museum of Modern Art, where it will become part of MOMA’s permanent collection
Needless to say, Leo Burnett led the local contenders with a total of seven nominations: two for the AICP Show and five for the Next Awards competition.
Energy BBO and McgarryBowen were each cited in two AICP Show categories, while and Draftfcb and Tris3ct appear in one category each.
The seven production companies with the highest number of mentions on both shortlists were MJZ, with 45 nominees, Park Pictures and Biscuit Filmworks, with 10 each; Smuggler, Folke Film and Furlined, seven each and Moonbot Studios, six.
Local AICP shortlistees are Energy BBDO/Bud Light for Direction and Production; Leo Burnett/Samsung for Editorial and Delta Faucet, Licensed Soundtrack or Arrangement; McgarryBowen/Verizon, Visual Style and Performance/Dialog and Production; Draftcb/Kmart, Humor and Tris3ct & Jerry Rig/Steel Series for Sound Design.
Leo Burnett’s Next Awards nominations were for Bundaberg Rum, Experiential and Business in the Community, Marketing, plus three nods each for Social Media and Integrated Campaigns.
Energy BBDO/BBDO/Bud Light are up for Product Integration.
The Next Awards show will be held Tuesday, June 10 at NYU Skirball Center and the AICP Directors Lecture Series, June 11 at the Museum of Modern Art.
