Financial world topic for comedy TV pilot

Year-old commercial and creative production company, Elkhorn Entertainment, shoots a satirical comedy pilot, “Capital Dog,” as its first TV project July 10-11.

“The heart of our show comes from taking real-world social topics, such as mortgage backed securities and political corruption, and taking the journey from the perception of ?uber-capitalism,'” says Elkhorn president Vince Chavez.

Chavez, a former small business consultant, writes an outline for each episode, which the cast fleshes out into a script through improvisation. “The fun and the humor come from the characters and the improvisation that we do to craft each scene.”

Chavez says Elkhorn will shop the 22-minute “Capital Dog” pilot to L.A. production companies and international media buyers for a broadcast deal, as well as to private investors for an in-house production, online release and DVD sales.

Chavez founded Elkhorn in 2009 with his wife, sales and marketing manager Julie Chavez, and executive director Dan Harris, his former roommate at Northern Illinois University.

Chavez and Harris are directing the “Capital Dog” pilot.

Tiffany Joy Ross, Evan Dollard, Marssie Mencotti, Jim Olverlin, Justin Gallagher, Harrison Riso Straley and Hank Hilbert star.

Chavez, Jeff Harris, Hilbert, Gallagher were classmates in the BFA-Acting program at NIU. Dan Harris studies film at Columbia College and was an Army staff sergeant.
