Filmscape offers Workforce Training program for production assistants

With support from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and in partnership with Production Assistance Unlimited, Filmscape Chicago announces their first Workforce Training program for production assistants.

This free program consists of 80 hours of hands-on training across two and a half weeks. The aim is to provide a solid foundation for a career in film and television, particularly for members of groups historically underrepresented in the industry. The program is designed to provide students with all the tools needed for a successful first day on the job.

As there are limited spaces available, admission will be application-based. The Workforce Training program is intended for Illinois residents actively seeking employment in the film and television industry. Applicants must be Illinois residents with high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to those who are available for immediate work in the Chicago production market upon completion of the course.

This workshop is an overview of all things production assistant, tackling not only set and office PA work, but the intricacies of each department and the role of the production assistant in each.

Classes will be 9-3, Monday through Friday, from February 5 through February 21, at CineCity Studios (1414 S Western Ave).

Lunch will be provided for students. A gear stipend will be available to students who complete the program to purchase equipment for production work.

APPLICATIONS OPEN FROM 1/5 – 1/19
