Film Wisconsin encourages Illinois crew members to be listed on its new online production guide

Film Wisconsin continues to strive for a Third Coast of film production, which its leaders envision as a geographic blend of Wisconsin and Illinois resources.

Towards this end, Film Wisconsin is encouraging Chicago crew members and vendors to be listed on its new online production directory at www.filmwisconsin.net.

“A depth of talented crews in our region benefits everyone, and lures bigger projects that hire more people in our region,” said producer Scott Robbe, one of the founders of the volunteer organization formed to fill the gap left by the demise of the 19-year old Wisconsin Film Office in 2005.

Film Wisconsin is slowly but steadily renewing its claim of having one of the best packages of film incentives in the industry. It has good reason to hope that the legislature will sign off on the aborted incentives package during the first quarter of 2007.

But they will have to hustle to replace the disheartening loss of $78 million in potential film projects it lost when partisan politics shoved the May 2006 enactment date back 18 months to Jan. 1, 2008. “We could’ve landed a good portion of that business if the effective date had been rightly put in place,” said Robbe.

“Hopefully in 2007 we will make the Third Coast the home of countless productions bringing jobs and revenue to everyone in the region,” he added.

Unlike some other directories, there is no charge for a listing.
