Scheduled for filming entirely in Chicago from June to July this year, Coco & Nut brings together a talented, diverse cast and crew drawn from both the United States and India. The production team has opted for a bilingual approach, presenting the story in both English and Hindi, enhancing the global appeal of the production.
Indian actress, Pranutan Bahl is ready to embark on a new cinematic journey as she makes her United States film debut.
Bahl, hailing from a prestigious film lineage as the granddaughter of the legendary Nutan and daughter of Mohnish Bahl, has gained recognition for her compelling performances in Notebook (2019) and Helmet (2022.) Coco & Nut pairs Bahl alongside American actor Rahsaan Noor.
Noor was born in Chicago. He attended Lake Forest College and after developing an interest in filmmaking, attended UCLA to study acting and directing. In 2018, Noor gained international attention after directing and starring in Bengali Beauty.
Noor co-wrote Coco & Nut with Raghav Murali, with additional screenplay credited to Priyamvada Singh The film is produced by Hamilton Moving Pictures’ Chad Shields, alongside Ranjith Rajasekharan and R.aghav Murali.
The narrative, described as a spirit-lifting romance, revolves around an ambitious young woman, Nut, portrayed by Pranutan Bahl. The character navigates the complexities of saving her marriage, and the storyline takes an unexpected twist when she receives support from her college sweetheart, Coco, played by Rahsaan Noor.
Pranutan Bahl expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I’ve always wanted to do a romantic drama. Coco & Nut is a beautiful story in which my character, Nut, journeys through a transformative phase in her life. I’m so grateful that I made my international debut with a movie like that.”
Bahl, who is a well loved actress in India, took to social media to announce her excitement about her first film in the U.S. saying, “Grateful.. SO SO grateful for every moment that led me to this.. my first International feature film!!”
Coco & Nut promises to be a heartfelt and transformative cinematic experience. The film is scheduled for release in 2025.
