FCB wins Super REGGIE for Valspar marketing campaign

THE TOP 2016 REGGIE AWARD, the Super REGGIE, selected from among 70 agency and brand winners for the best in marketing, went to FCB Chicago for its Valspar Paint’s “Color for the Colorblind” campaign, at April 20 ceremonies at the Westin Hotel attended by more than 300 guests.

Local agencies scoring 10 top prizes among 23 categories were Starcom MediaVest, four: two Golds and a Silver for REI and a Silver for Delta Faucet.

Arc Worldwide, three: A Bronze for P&G’s Always Discreet campaign, a Silver for Alcon and a Bronze for 3M.

McGarryBowen, two, Gold and Bronze for Western Union Financial Services; Trisect, one, a Silver for Palm Breeze. FCB Chicago also won a Gold for Vaspar.

GRAY TALENT GROUP, agent Dawn Gray’s company that’s been sending its talent to Hollywood for starring roles in features, will open an LA office this summer. Agent Zack Gray will move from Chicago head the new office.

O’KEEFE, REINHARD & PAUL was named AOR for Canadian Gildan Activewear, makers of T-shirts, sweats, polos, socks and underwear for the family, following a review. New ads from OKRP will bow this spring and continue with Gildan’s partnership with country music star Blake Shelton.

A NEW VIDEO PRODUCTION division at Naperville-based Rhea & Kaiser, is being headed by Patrick Barkley, an Emmy-winning video tech, to provide clients with on-location shooting and editing. Previously, Barkley was a segment producer at NBC/5’s lifestyle and entertainment shows.

Another recent addition is award-winning copywriter Steve Knapp, from Columbus, Ohio, who created campaigns for McDonald’s, Panama City Beach and Lilly Diabetes.

CUTTERS’ FLAVOR DESIGN division added motion graphic designer Christina d’Orthez as a staff producer after she’d been freelancing there since last September. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, she’s been working in Chicago on major ad campaigns since April 2014.

FORMER HARPO ATTORNEY Casey Mcmillan has joined the Chicago office of law firm Swanson, Martin, and Bell to expand their entertainment law division, specifically focusing on film and television issues. During her nearly eight years with Harpo Productions, her work covered a variety of legal needs related to Harpo shows.

McMillan is also a member of 2112 Chicago, the music, film and tech incubator.

LEO BURNETT CLIENT Samsung Electronics was named the Cannes Lion 2016 “Creative Marketer of the Year” — the highest honor bestowed on a single brand, “recognizing the brand’s relentless belief in the power of creativity,” says Burnett CCO Mark Tutssel.

Samsung apparently is a Cannes favorite having received 74 Lions for work across 17 countries over the festival’s 70 year history.
