‘Exciting creative work’ lures ECD Dan Fietsam to FCB

Dan Fietsam

FCB scored big with the appointment of award-winning Dan Fietsam as EVP/executive creative director, after nearly six years as Energy BBDO’s creative director. He joins the agency July 14, replacing Jon Flannery, who moves to FCB Toronto as its chief creative officer.

Fietsam left Energy BBDO last February, saying he wanted to pursue other more creative interests in the advertising business.  He cites “FCB’s rich heritage and exciting new creative work” as reasons for joining the agency.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining FCB,” he says. “Famous, buzz-worthy, viral work, an innovative new agency model, and an amazing new space make FCB an agency to watch. It’s the kind of opportunity I have been looking for.”

Fietsam reports to CCO Todd Tilford, who says of Fietsam’s arrival: “Dan’s energy and passion for producing, creating and making compelling, motivating content are contagious. He’s the kind of guy people love to work for and with – the kind of creative soul they want to be around.”

Prior to Energy BBDO, Fietsam was ECD at Publicis in the West and held CD positions at DDB, Y&R and Leo Burnett.

One of the important pieces of new business he helped Energy BBDO land last June was the Bud Light account.  His “Swear Jar” campaign for Bud Light won an Emmy. Some of the brands he worked on include Wrigley, PepsiCo, T-Mobil, Jim Beam and Anheuser-Busch.

Flannery, who starts his new Toronto position July 11, replaces Robin Heisey, who is leaving the agency.
