Erica Duffy has announced that she will step down as Executive Director of the Midwest Film Festival (MFF) on December 1, 2024.
Erica took over the role of Executive Director just as the pandemic hit. She used the four months of full quarantine lockdown as an opportunity to re-brand and re-launch the fest, which began by changing the name from MIFF to MFF. As a successful woman in film who relied upon those who supported women-run companies, Erica in turn made sure that MFF was helpful in pushing boundaries, creating industry norms, and supporting under-represented filmmakers.
In a recent announcement by the Midwest Film Festival, Duffy penned her resignation as Executive Director, in order to embark on new adventures.
Dear Beloved MFF Community,
I am honored to reflect on the past five years that I’ve had the privilege to serve as the Executive Director of the Midwest Film Festival. Together, we have reached incredible milestones and created countless memories. We have nurtured the festival into a vibrant beacon of creativity, inclusivity, and community, celebrating the exceptional talent of Midwest filmmakers and showcasing films that provoke thought and inspire dialogue.
As I prepare to embark on new adventures, I am writing to announce that my tenure as the Executive Director of The Midwest Film Festival will conclude on December 1, 2024. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the support, love, and dedication each of you has shown. Your passion for film and commitment to our mission have been the heartbeat of our success. The relationships we have built, the stories we have shared, and the lives we have touched are a testament to the power of our community.
I have full confidence that the Midwest Film Festival will continue to thrive and inspire under its new leadership. The foundation we’ve built together is strong, and I believe the seeds we’ve sown are poised to blossom, ushering in a new era of growth for the festival. I look forward to witnessing the ongoing success and transformation of this beloved organization. Although my role is changing, my unwavering support remains. From the depths of my heart, thank you.
In love & light,
Erica Duffy
