Noted entertainment attorneys, Tom Leavens, Peter Strand and Jerry Glover, also noted for their contributions to non-profit arts organizations, have formed a LaSalle St. law firm bearing their names.
Leavens, Strand and Glover, LLC is one of Chicago’s few firms concentrating exclusively in entertainment law, representing creative artists and companies in all areas of visual media, broadcasting and new media.
Among their clients are Harpo, Inc., Old Town School of Folk Music, Rachel Barton Pine, Pitchfork Media, Inc., Telepictures Productions, Inc., WFMT Radio and WTTW/Ch. 11.
“Chicago’s growing influence in the entertainment industry, and the synergy created by our three practices, spurred this partnership,” Leavens says.
“We’re eager to help boost, protect, and grow the incomes of this city’s enormous talent pool.”
Previously, Leavens was general counsel for LRSmedia, producer of the PBS series “Legends of Jazz with Ramsey Lewis,” for the pioneering digital music company, MusicNow and for Platinum Entertainment, a record company.
He was the first executive director of Lawyers for the Creative Arts, which created an award in his name and named him its first recipient.
A graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School, he teaches at Northwestern University School of Law, is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and is a member of the Authors Guild.
