Emmy nominee Meagan Fitzgerald joins NBC News’ Chicago Bureau


David Verdi,  NBC News SVP of Worldwide News Gathering announced that three-time Emmy nominee, correspondent Meagan Fitzgerald will now be based in Chicago, reporting across all NBC News and MSNBC platforms.


Meagan comes from NBC4 in Washington D.C. where she co-anchored the weekend editions of News4 TODAY. While at NBC4, Meagan was the first reporter at the scene of the 2015 ‘D.C. Mansion Murders’ and was first to report on air that the jury found the lone suspect guilty on all charges.  

Prior to joining NBC4 in 2015, Meagan reported for KUSA-TV in Denver where she covered historic floods, fires, the 2012 mass shooting in Aurora and the legalization of marijuana. She began her career in Monroe, Louisiana at KTVE-TV where she uncovered payroll fraud in the city’s engineering department, resulting in the indictment of the head engineer and an employee.

Meagan is a graduate of Howard University and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Association of Black Journalists.

Meagan Fitzgerald is also a three-time Emmy nominee and her work has been recognized by the Colorado Broadcast Association and the Colorado Black Journalist Association, which named her Best Broadcast Journalist of the Year.
