Elaine Madsen’s doc profiles 16 amazing women

ELAINE MADSEN, the Emmy-winning producer, writer, and longtime Chicagoan, appears at the Beverly Arts Center on Nov. 22 with a free screening of her documentary “I Know a Woman Like That,” produced by her daughter Virginia.

“I Know a Woman Like That” profiles 16 women over age 70 who are leaders of their respective fields, including singer Eartha Kitt, actress Rita Moreno, and writers Gloria Steinem and Maxine Hong Kingston.

Madsen won an Emmy for her documentary about Chicago filmmaking, “Better Than It Has To Be,” which aired on NBC and PBS. She is the author of a non-fiction book and a poetry book, and the coordinator of the playwrights/directors unit for The Actors Studio, West.

“I Know a Woman Like That” screens Sunday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. See
