Edinburgh-bound producers need $$$ help

THE PRODUCTION TEAM that made the feature documentary, “Postales,” are elated that it is an official selection of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, June 16-27, their first and most prestigious stop on the festival circuit.

The problem is — one that indie filmmakers can easily relate to — they incurred so many costs in preparing for festivals, such as application fees, conversion to exhibition formats and final clearances — that they’ve come up short on travel expenses.

“We’re really excited about the Edinburgh premiere,” says producer Claire Connelly, aka IFP president, but we need your help to make it a reality.”

Towards that end, there’s a Fundraiser and Silent Auction Friday, June 5, at Cinespace Chicago in the Ryerson steel plant, with the goal of raising $5,000 for the six principals to attend the June 25 screening.

The six are director Josh Hyde; producer/DP Dan Fischer, producer PJ Fishwick; editor Evan Smith and their Peruvian producer Maxim Holland.

Appetizers, beer, wine, live music, a DJ and silent auction — all for $20. The venue is Cinespace Studios at the Ryerson Steel plant, 16th and Rockwell.
