Director Bob Ebel has worked on many commercials over the years with DP Brian Clare and considers him a good friend. When Clare’s health problems mounted, Ebel immediately stepped up to help his friend by helping to raise funds to cover the family’s lost income and a myriad of expenses not paid by insurance.
Clare is battling stage four lung cancer. He is out of the hospital after finishing radiation treatment and also starting recovery from surgery to repair a fractured hip.
“It’s a tough battle Brian’s fighting,” said Ebel producer Lisa Masseur, “but he has renewed spirit and determination from the outpouring of love and concern from the entire film community.”
Ebel Productions set up a fund at the Harris bank in Marengo, where the Clares live, to accept contributions. “Whatever amount anyone would like to contribute, ten, twenty dollars or more, would really help with these special needs,” said Masseur.
