Digitas’ Chicago office has been given eBay’s estimated $20 to $30 million business, after the online retailer heard creative pitches from East and West Coast agencies last fall.
Digitas, a Publicis Groupe company, will handle only digital creative and media.
After several rounds of presentations, a trio of finalists — Organic, Swirl and Digitas — competed in the finals, executives familiar with the matter said.
Tony Weisman is president of Digitas’ Boston-Chicago-Detroit region. He joined Digitas in 2007 from Draftfcb, which is suing Digitas and two former Draftfcb employees, Kevin Drew Davis and Brooke Skinner, charging them with violating an employment agreement.
The complaint alleges that Drew and Skinner signed an agreement not to pirate any Draftfcb employees after they joined Digitas, but did hire at least five Draftfcb staffers, who are also named in the suit.
If anything comes of the suit, it will probably be settled out of court, observers say.
