The 3% Movement are believers in planning ahead for things that matter. But this year – for so many reasons – it is hard to think at all, yet alone think ahead. They have assembled an easy, free way to bring your team together throughout the month of March for Women’s History Month.
The 3% Women’s History Month Video Playlist consists of four videos chosen from hundreds captured during 3%’s 28 events over 10 years. Ranging in length from 30 minutes to just under an hour, each video can be watched in a group Zoom/Google Meet with your team – one per week throughout March.
Each video was chosen because it touches on key issues important to women’s equality, including sexual harassment, motherhood, freedom of emotional expression, body policing and pay equity.
Panel: Daughters of the Evolution
Week 1: Daughters of the Evolution
What does the youngest generation think about women in advertising? Find out as we meet the daughters of Leo Burnett N.A. CCO Judy John, PRETTYBIRD co-founder Kerstin Emhoff, R/GA U.S. CCO Chloe Gottlieb, and Goodby Silverstein & Partners CCO Margaret Johnson. The session, moderated by Director/ Photographer/ Author Lauren Greenfield, will uncover these girls’ ideas about the best and worst parts of their mothers’ jobs; their definitions of leadership, success and fearlessness; and their own aspirations and predictions of what the future holds.
Stop Telling Women to Be Confident— Start Letting Them Be Angry
Week 2: Stop Telling Women to Be Confident – Start Letting Them Be Angry
Soraya Chemaly, Author of “Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women’s Anger” sits in conversation with Kat Gordon, Founder of The 3% Movement. Research reveals that confidence does not correlate to competence, yet we hold out confidence as the missing success factor for women. All while an attribute that women do naturally, feel yet aren’t permitted to express—anger—holds the key to fully expressed humanity and creativity.
Sizeism
Week 3: Sizeism
Makeda Loney (Copywriter), FCB Louise Green (Coach, Author, Influencer, Activist, Big Fit Girl) and Kat Gordon (Founder of The 3% Movement) discuss how our physical selves are subject to a rarely addressed bias. This discussion also addresses the industry’s responsibility in showcasing more representative body types in the ads we send out into the world.
Where the Money Is
Week 4: Where the Money Is
You cannot claim to value people equally and pay them unequally. Pay equity is table stakes in the game of women’s equality. Ad legend and successful entrepreneur Cindy Gallop ups the ante and offers tips about how to make “an absolute goddamn ton of money.”
