LA-based director Ryan Patrick, known for his comedy and choreography chops, joins the Picture North family, formalizing a relationship over a decade in the making.
Director Ryan Patrick’s history with Picture North’s Executive Producers Neha Datt Schultz and Martin Rodahl goes back to his college days at Northwestern University where all three majored in film and their roots in advertising and production first took hold. As students, Ryan and Martin had conversations about working together in the commercial directing world.
Now, twelve years later, the deal is done.
“There’s already a familiarity in collaborating with EPs like Neha and Martin, both of whom I’ve known for a while,” said Ryan. “There’s an unfiltered honesty about the creative process which I know will only take our work to the next level.”
Often blending comedy with rhythm and movement, Ryan’s spots deliver energy alongside carefully crafted art direction. A two-time nominee of the Cannes YDA, Ryan’s films and spots have screened on the Vimeo Staff Picks channel, at SXSW, and at numerous other festivals. His recent short film, Gremlins: Recall, was a viral reboot of the 80’s classic horror comedy Gremlins.
“We’ve known Ryan and admired his work for so long. Given everything that’s going on in the world right now, this just felt like a perfect time to consolidate our efforts and pursue the next step in our careers together,” said Martin. “He also brings something completely fresh to our line-up of directors.”
