DiBiase’s promotion gives Utopic a 6-editorial staff

Utopic editor Jill DiBiase

Creative editorial house Utopic — which celebrated its sixth business anniversary in December — expanded its editorial talent with the promotion of Jill DiBiase to creative editor, from senior assistant editor, bringing the editorial staff up to six.

Earlier, DiBiase had worked for several years at Optimus with Utopic editor/partners Jan Maitland and Tim Kleohn and resumed working alongside them when she joined Utopic in 2013.

Recently DiBiase worked with creative editor Suzie Moore on a complex project for Nissan, cutting a series of large format films. “The Red Thread” video, revealing the 2016 Nissan 300-HP Vg #Maxima sports car, is Nissan’s centerpiece for the 2015-2016 Tier One Worldwide Auto Show that will play in eight major cities around the world.

This summer she worked closely with creative editor Katherine Pryor on a Porsche 5-minute video, “The Enduring Bond,” a behind-the-scenes look at endurance racing that Cramer-Krasselt created for its client.

Her portfolio includes numerous high profile campaign and long form projects over the past two years, including those for Kraft, Secret, Firestone, NRG, Nationwide and H&R Block

DiBiase is currently editing a feature-length doc, “Tough Guys,” about the history of mixed martial arts, for directors Henry Roosevelt and W.B. Zullo of New York-based MinusL Productions.

She also edits short films and indie features, including two of director Jack Newell’s films: 2014’s “Open Tables” improv comedy that screened at the 2015 Chicago International Film Festival and “Close Quarters” that won MWFF’s best editing award in 2012.

A 2008 Columbia College graduate with a concentration in editing, DiBiase says, “I’ve known exactly what I wanted to do since I was in high school editing our local TV show segments. This is my passion, this is what moves me.”
