Screenwriter Frederick Mensch, celebrating his 20th anniversary as the owner of MovieBytes, a top screenplay contest resource, will be the featured speaker at the Chicago Screenwriters Network meeting, Sunday, Feb. 21.
A screenwriter for 35 years, he will speak mainly about his experience in getting his hit script “Nightingale” to screen when it aired on HBO last May. “Nightingale” was a one-man tour de force for actor David Oyelowo who portrayed one man’s isolation and madness with the claustrophobic confines of a single house.
Mensch says he’s currently working on a stage version of “Nightingale” that would be performed at a local theatre.
He also will talk about the business of screenplay contests. He’s entered a few in the past and and won some, but his concentration is on scriptwriting. He will also field Q & As from the audience.
At Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln, doors open at 6 p.m. Order tickets here.
