If you’re a UFO enthusiast, this is one opportunity not to be missed. Experience an alien encounter in a sneak peek of The Alien Report screening at the Patio Theater.
Chicago-based filmmakers Patrick Donnelly and Kevin Schroeder are offering audiences a sneak peek of their critically acclaimed, soon-to-be-released UFO movie, The Alien Report, at Chicago’s iconic Patio Theater on Thursday, May 26th, for one night only.
Presented by Big Picture Chicago Productions, the sneak preview is part of a recurring local filmmakers’ showcase. The Patio Theater is located at 6008 W. Irving Park Road on the northwest side of Chicago in the Portage Park neighborhood.
Described by Dread Central as a “visually stunning, fun ride,” The Alien Report introduces itself as a video-diary UFO documentary about a troubled teen who has figured out a clever way to capture his own UFO footage using hidden, micro-HD cameras, Go-Pros and iPhone components. The story plays out in three interchanging sequences that reveal telepathic beings, human hybrids and the elusive “Men-In-Black.”
From a private screening, The Center for UFO Studies (CUFO) described The Alien Report as “capturing the surreal, dreamlike, and inscrutable nature of the real alien abduction experience.”
“It’s not a traditional narrative style movie,” said Michael Sell of Earth’s Dreamland, the film’s distribution company. “It’s a POV experience filmed on modern, tiny cameras that bring you right into the action. It’s close-up alien encounters of an unusual kind. No UFO movie has ever brought the viewer right into the movie for its entire duration, especially one created from an impossibly tiny micro-budget.”
The Patio Movie Theater is a throwback to the monstrous palace theaters. Built in 1927, it boasts a large screen format and a recently upgraded Dolby 5.1 Theater Surround Sound. A crowd-funding effort has raised needed funds in an effort to restore its richly decorated upper and lower lobbies. Though still a way from completion, money earned is being used to bring back to life this unique and beautiful venue.

Additional screenings of The Alien Report will begin in Chicago’s north shore Wilmette Theater in mid-June and discussion has begun with a national theater chain about a limited test run in five midwestern cities to gauge performance.
