Creative Cypher announces the release of its first animated film

Creative Cypher continues to break barriers in Black film as it releases its first animated project, Captain Zero

Captain Zero, created by Lamard Cher-Aime is one of 9 projects in various stages of production for Creative Cypher.

The story revolves around Xerxes Hughes (Lamard Cher-Aimé), a social media obsessed teenager who must uncover the cause of his random blackouts to stop his depression demon — a physical manifestation of all his deep seated insecurities.

Captain Zero stars Keith David, Angelica Ross, Zolee Griggs, Coty Galloway, Marion Toro and Jazz Walker.

The film is intended to be a detailed glimpse into what audiences can expect from an animated series. The story focuses on a Black teenager on a mental health journey as he learns to process his trauma, while attempting to save the day…and save himself.

“The message is powerful for today’s young, Black man,” said Troy Pryor, founder of Creative Cypher. “I started my career as a voice actor so I was on board as soon as I saw Keith David.“

It has already picked up momentum after independently raising funds for production.
