Creative costumes abound at Cutters party

More than 450 guests crowded Cutters downtown facilities for its first Halloween party, one that assuredly will become an annual event for hosts Cutters, Sol Design, Another Country and Dictionary films.

Since the guests were mostly adpeople, their inventive costumes expressed their creativity to the hilt — with three guests, two from DDB, taking home serious cash prizes for their originality.

“Gene Simmons of Kiss,” a.k.a. DDB senior production artist Johnny Sabaduquia, walked off with the $1,000 grand prize and his colleague, ACD/art director Sonja Olson, won $500 for coming as ESPN correspondent Erin Andrews.

Third place prize of $250 was earned by freelance editor/motion graphics designer Paul Caddick, who dressed as “A Knight to Remember.”

Besides the fun of roaring at another’s guests innovative get up, the hosts featured entertainment from Chicago playwright Clint Sheffer and actors from the Bruised Orange Theatre Company, who provided debauchery and morbidly entertaining burlesque shows throughout the night.

Dance music was provided by professional DJs Dave Moreno and Brian Bullock; Sugar Plum was the caterer; lighting and staging by Technotrix.
