Commercial pros are the stars at MWFF, Oct. 5

Midwest Independent Film Festival director Mike McNamara promises a superior crop of personal projects by commercial pros at the Second Annual 2010 Midwest Advertising Community Shorts Night, Oct. 5.

The 11 live action, animated and music entries come from Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee making “this year’s line-up even better than last year’s inaugural crop,” McNamara says.

The festival includes the world premiere of “Lotology,” a documentary about lottery ticket collectors “who believe an unscratched ?mint’ ticket is worth more than the potential prize lurking under the latex.”

It was co-directed by Minneapolis commercial directors Tim Blevins of Carmichael Lynch and Nina Onezzoli of Colle + McVoy; produced by Ramon Nunez of Draftfcb.

McNamara says “Lotology” is “very unique. I think it’s going to play very well.”

Another documentary on the slate is from former Z Group Films director Paul Cotter, who made “Berlin Wall,” about a German man building a replica of the Wall in his back yard. Cotter made “Berlin Wall” while living in Germany to shoot his feature debut “Bomber.”
