Helm and Moody partnered with Cramer-Krasselt’s John Doessel and John McKenzie on their social media campaign for Porsche.

The agency came to The Colonie with a pointed, engaging campaign and a pool of 16×9 footage that needed to be reimagined for the vertical environment.

To tackle this challenge, Helm and Moody used compelling visual storytelling in order to maintain a high end brand’s aesthetic in the social media space.

As always, Helm and Moody began the process by fleshing out a variety of treatment options and then developing them into video presentations for the client.

“Bringing our concepts to life with motion enables us to effectively convey our ideas,” says Helm. “Rather than relying on verbal descriptions and flat art, creating video treatments gave the agency creatives a fuller understanding of the dramatic and subtle motion that make each concept unique.”

The treatment for Curves that pushed the boundaries the farthest was the one that everyone agreed was the way to go.

Helm and Moody used a visceral, yet elegant triptych paired with integrated titles to create an environment that was immersive and engaging. Even within the restraints of vertical, the edit was arresting, and the Cayenne Turbo was beautifully displayed.

“Everyone on The Colonie’s team is very proud of this campaign and thrilled that it’s receiving recognition from AICP, “says Helm.

Taylor Bennett | “Rock N Roll”
Editor Nathan Rodgers has also garnered a nomination from AICP Post for hip-hop recording artist Taylor Bennett’s music video for the track,’ Rock ‘N’ Roll.’ Directed by Andre Muir, the storyline follows Taylor and a female accomplice on a ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ inspired robbery of a record store that goes awry.

The disjointed structure of the storyline unfolds the action out of context in seemingly random order. Shots of the crime in progress are intercut with Bennett’s foiled escape, and the police nabbing him before he makes his getaway. The narrative and story come together with the help of quick shots scattered throughout the video revealing clues that led to the foiling of the heist.

“Being present at the shoot gave me a clear understanding of the vision,” says Rodgers. “From there it was a matter of making sure that every image used contributed to building the entire story. The video bombards the viewer with a lot of chaotic images, so any extraneous shots could easily overwhelm or distract them. It was a lot of fun figuring out how long to hold on each of the brief ‘hint’ shots without making the clues too obvious or obscure.”

“Editing this disconnected narrative structure and weaving all the pieces of the puzzle together into a captivating story that brought Andre’s vision to life was a great experience,” adds Rodgers. “The AICP nomination is just a continuation of that.“

We’re honored by AICP’s recognition,” says Mary Caddy, co-founder and executive producer at The Colonie. “Nathan and Jimmy are young talents with fresh, innovative perspectives. We’re thrilled that the artistry they bring to their craft has been acknowledged by AICP.”
