On Friday, Pixel Brothers’ 26 employees packed up and moved to its new home in 12,000-sq. ft. of beautifully rehabbed space in a “green” building at 400 N. Wolcott.
Producer/partner Andrew Ryann estimates an investment of $350-$400,000 investment for the build-out, new state-of-the-art equipment and furnishings.
Architect Daniella Fitzgerald, of the firm of Fitzgerald Earles, designed the high-ceiled space with a combination of utility, comfort and style.
An abundance of bright management office have been built around the perimeter walls and offer stunning views of the city and skyline. A large editing/conference room will boast a 50-inch plasma screen when furnished.
There are 16 client/producer cubicles, a sizeable kitchen, coffee stations, plenty of closets, and the utmost in employee amenities: a shower for the weary staff that puts in long hours or works through the night. And plenty of fenced in parking.
Updating its equipment on the post side, two new Final Cut Pro HD editing suites were added — one dedicated to audio finishing and another to color grading ? for a total of 12. Installed are a super high speed Final Cut server a highly integrated, editorial content management system; a new Episode compression cluster and Web Checkout software that will manage inventory by following a job, step-by-step from bid to accounting.
A shooting stage is the only studio component lacking. “Even with more stage work, it’s not a problem,” notes Ryann. “We’ll continue to rent Resolution Digital Studios’ stage,” which is just a few blocks away.
