Cinespace is converting 40K-sq. ft. into office space

Cinespace continues to expand — this time with the conversion of two former massive “Boss” sets into office space to accommodate the Fox TV staff moving in for the upcoming production of three Fox pilots.

The two office complexes are located in Cinespace’s Center Building at 2558 W. 16th St.  Each is an average size of approximately 20,000-sq. ft., and each consisting of 20 offices along with several conference rooms and convenient kitchen services.

The decision to convert the former “Boss” stages into offices was made in the past 30 days, says Cinespace CFO Mark Degnen. “We had a good lead with the Fox pilots coming here and felt it was a good time to go forward and spend the money.”

With all the filming activity at Cinespace – a fourth NBC Universal-Dick Wolf “Chicago” franchise is now on the docket and the possibility of the Fox pilots becoming series – “We’re at least preparing for new stage construction,” Degnen notes.

The studio currently boasts 22 stages “and our hope is to achieve 28 stages, depending if the Fox pilots are picked up,” he says.  “We could be adding six to ten new stages by August.”

The three Fox pilots are psychological thriller “The Exorcist;” a police drama, “A.P.B.” and drama “Zoobiquity.” Production on the trio begins in March and runs for eight weeks.
