Chicago-based Swym Good Films is set to debut its award-winning horror short The Girl in the Street on April 13 via ALTER, the global destination for curated genre storytelling.
The film arrives on ALTER following a strong festival run and will reach a wide audience through the platform’s nearly 3.8 million YouTube subscribers, as well as distribution across Samsung TV+, Tubi, Plex, The CW, DIRECTV, LG Channels, and Sling FreeStream.
The Girl in the Street follows Malachi, a man forced to leave behind his dying sister for a life-changing opportunity in a remote town. When a bloodied, masked woman appears outside his new home, he faces a chilling decision that tests the limits of his morality and survival instincts. The film explores the uneasy tension between compassion and self-preservation, set against the unsettling backdrop of small-town life. Watch the trailer below:
Directed by Chicago-based filmmaking duo Chris & Miles, Chris Paicely and Miles August, the SAG-AFTRA production stars Shawn Roundtree Jr., Whitney Blair Masters, D’Andra Laneé, and Chris Anthony, with a cameo from horror icon Heather Langenkamp.
“Premiering on ALTER is incredibly meaningful for us,” said Paicely. “They’ve built a global platform for distinctive, original horror, and we’re excited to bring the film to that audience as we wind down our festival run.”
“Partnering with ALTER is incredibly exciting because it gives the film a global stage with an audience that really understands and appreciates bold, visual horror storytelling,” added August.
The project features a standout creative team, including cinematographer Lana Mattice, post-production support from Fotokem and Esho Sound, and an original score by Pablo Fuu.
Chris & Miles continue to build momentum following their previous shorts ALUS and BOUND, with their latest project SILK currently on the festival circuit.
For Chicago’s indie film scene, the ALTER premiere marks another strong moment, showcasing local talent on a global stage and reinforcing the city’s growing presence in genre filmmaking.
